Modaco is the best forum for Smartphone 2002 and 2003 stuff. Answer to any of your questions can be found here although it may take a while to find because there is soo much info.
Monolithix's freeware a good onestop shop for all the Smartphone 2002 freeware. Hasn't been updated recently and the categorisation is a bit tricky, but it still has the best single list of freeware with downloads.

Any money collected will in the first instance go towards getting me a baltimore app signing account (target value $500US) and after that to a larger range of devices for development/testing. If I get an app signing account all my freeware will be signed and free.

I make no guarantees about the use of your money although I will probably do what I've said above. Additionally be aware that paypal will take 2-4% + about 20p of any donation for using their service.

Current donated funds stands at $21US ... not much further to go :)
